When we decided to bring our boys to school with us, we fully understood that they would be mingling in a different financial bracket from our lives. K and Q understand it and so far, so great. Perhaps with time it will become even more apparent, or more difficult for them to understand or appreciate, but for now, it is ok. Quinn's grade three teacher told me a funny story at lunch yesterday that had me laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes. With the long family day weekend coming up, the class was sharing what they were doing for the long weekend. Many are going up to their chalets to ski for the weekend, a handful are going somewhere warm and sunny and one boy shared that his family was going to Madrid, Spain to see a soccer match for the weekend. Quinn explained to the class that his family was going to ride the new UP (Union Pearson) express train to Pearson International Airport. The class asked where they were flying off to, to which Quinn responded, "oh, we aren't going anywhere, we will just ride the train back to Union Station and go out for dinner somewhere downtown." Ms. Barker said that Quinn was pleased, proud and excited about our Family Weekend ahead. And there it is... A long weekend in the city can be just as much fun as going to Madrid to watch professional soccer. :)
