FIFTH VICTORIA DAY FIREWORKS

Last night had a fantastic crew of people from our community gather on Maria Street and enjoy the Victoria Day Fireworks festivities.  I know I say it every year, but this is truly a memorable event that seems to reach a little bit further, a little bit wider and is a little bit better every year.  Thanks to everyone who made it out and contributed to such a fun event.  Victoria Day falls on Monday May 23rd next year, put it in your calendars now.  Same time, same place next year...

Some of the haul...

A good crew of people for the start, many more arrived as the show went on

THE COTTAGE IS OPEN...

We were very fortunate to log some cottage time this past weekend.  All 8 of the cousins descended to Eilean Gowan Island to open the cottage season with style.  The kids were silly excited to be together again.  The weather was warm but the water was not, only 13 degrees Celsius (about 54F) but that didn't stop the kids from swimming most of the day on Sunday!  We will be back soon...

TEAMWORK!  The biggest predicament of the weekend was how to get the Wahoo off the trailer and into the water.

Nora mid jump!  No turning back now...

Uh Oh...

And they all fell in.

Sean loved Mae!

So he crawled into bed with her and snuggled.

Happiness is being with Grampa Mike!

Mae's first trip to the cottage and in a boat was a big success!

We love Grampa Mike!

I LOVE YOU, YOU ARE SO WEIRD!

We celebrated Quinn's First Communion on May 9th.  He enjoyed a funny moment with Father Nino prior to the service.  He admitted he was nervous to go up and accept Communion, but he returned with a huge smile on his face and said the host tastes like nothing at all!  Father Nino does an amazing job of keeping his messages simple yet powerful.  His main message to the kids and their families is the importance of three words, "I Love You".  He went on to say there are six words that can follow those first three and asked the boys and girls to guess what those words might be.  Quinn promptly turned to Dave and I and said, "I love you, you are so weird!"  Nope, likely not the answer Father Nino was looking for.  The correct answer was, You are so important to me.  We kept it low key, as we did for Kieran a few years ago.  Thank you to Poppy, Nana and Pete for attending the service and coming home to celebrate Quinn.  You are so loved QBall.  xoxox

Thanks Nana for the family shot.

FURRY COUSINS

Mae and Maddie are quite adorable with one another.  Maddie has always been social and Mae, lived with 400 other dogs for the first 10 years of her life so it makes sense that she gets excited upon spending time with her sweet furry cousin.

M&M snuggling on Mae's bed enjoying the sunshine and warmth while the boys played badminton in the backyard.  A sign of a good summer ahead.

YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY BABY...

I was flipping through old photographs recently and was amazed at the progress Kieran has made.  These photos I am posting here are from Kieran's very first competition in St. Catharines back in June 2012, as a 6 year old in grade one.

First ever gym suit, he was so proud and excited he decided to make valentine's day treats while wearing it.

Tamara with Kieran and Quinn June 2012

Tamara, this is the boy we delivered to you all those years ago.  Age 5, turned 6 in November of that Fall.

VAUGHAN GYMNASTICS INVITATIONAL

After a truly emotional week, Kieran rallied in honour of his coach Tamara.  Kieran and Tamara have been together since he was 5 years old.  Tamara is off on new adventures.  The loss of having her as a coach is difficult and upon learning of this coaching change Kieran was ready to quit the sport entirely.  Both Dave and I encouraged him to go and lay down the best routines he has ever competed with in her honour.  As we drove to the competition he reminded me that he was doing this for Tamara.  As promised, Kieran worked hard on every single element and had the greatest success in competition he has ever had ending the day with 3 Silver Medals (Rings, P.Bars and Vault), 3 Bronze Medals (High Bar, Pommel and Floor) and 1 special award for Most Daring Pommel.  Tamara, you instilled a passion, excitement, strong work ethic and a desire to do well in both Kieran and Quinn.  We are incredibly grateful for all you have done for our boys.  Know that you are loved, admired and missed!  Thank you for all you have done for the Fitz Boyz.  We promise to keep in touch.
