SURPRISE!

Miss Maeve is turning 4 next week.  March 4th marks her champagne birthday.  We are not sure we will connect with her next weekend so we decided to throw an impromptu surprise party for her today.  This morning I took the boys to gymnastics from 11-1pm and on our way home we made a few key stops to pull it all together.  First stop, Mastermind for a presie.  Second stop the party store for a special balloon for her.  Third and final stop was Tim Horton's for some sprinkle donuts.  Dave had put the birthday flag up and happy birthday banner out front so all that was left to do was rush home to be there for the surprise.  Sadly, the cousins beat us home so we weren't there to greet them for the true surprise we had envisioned; however, everyone was surprised and thrilled to celebrate Miss Maeve.  We spent a wonderful afternoon running around Castle Park in High Park with the cousins and playing around our house.  As always, we LOVE the time we spend with them and are counting down the days until cottage season starts and we get to spend oodles of time them.  Happy Birthday Maevey.  We love you!  xoxo

OUR BRIDGE

A little more than a year ago I was asked to become a lululemon ambassador.  With that came a photo shoot to capture an image to be put on display within their store.  I was asked to pick a location of my choice, went to the store and was given an outfit to wear and off we went to the shoot.  It was a freezing cold January day and I can assure you I was not dressed appropriately for the length of time we were out there.  I chose to have my photo taken on the Humber Bay Bridge.  It's a beautiful landmark in the West end, not far from where we live and where I teach fitness so it made sense to me.  We drive past it multiple times each week on our way to and from gymnastics and not a drive by goes by without the boys yelling, "there's Mummy's bridge".  On our way home from Ikea yesterday we opted to stop by and take a run and play on the bridge.  It is now considered "our bridge".  I thought it only fair to snap a few pics of the boys on this new found landmark in their world.

SLEEPING IN MY NEW BOX!

I received this video as I was at Ikea last night.  Too cute!

KIDS + BOXES = FANTASTIC FUN!

We braved Ikea yesterday and shockingly, it was not that busy!  I personally visited not one, but 2 Ikeas in a matter of hours.  For 4 years now we have been wanting to buy a new couch for our 3rd floor.  We have looked and looked, purchased and returned and in the end we have learned it ain't easy to get a couch up to the top of our house.  We finally bought and successfully got a new sectional couch up there yesterday.  We bought the actual frame at one Ikea but the fabric we wanted was out of stock there so I drove up to the one in Vaughan after dinner last night and found the fabric we wanted.  We spent a portion of the night ironing and assembling the couch while the boys had set up, decorated the big boxes and created a new home for themselves.  Kieran's room is now considered "the boys house" while Quinn's room has become a playroom/art room.  What they don't realize is that to have big boxes taking over their rooms is very challenging for this "Type A" OCD Mum.  Thankfully Tuesday night recycling goes out.  Until then, I'm willing to loosen up a bit!

He is really asleep here!

So is he!

Seeing this makes me edgy!  I like everything to be in its place.  Clearly I need to chill out!

VALENTINES

This afternoon it became very apparent that we might have started our Valentines treats a wee bit late.  After 2 hours of gymnastics we arrived home and sat down to do our class valentines.  Both K and Q have 20 kids in their classes at school but they also have classes of 20 in each of their daycares.  Total those up, add the teachers and that means we had 86 Valentines cards to create.  Ugh!  Given that we are very Superhero focused we thought it would be fun to make Superhero lollipops.  On our way to gymnastics this morning we hit Dollarama and bought Tootsie Roll lollipops (for the nice round head), cut out some masks, capes, hole punch them, write on each cape and carefully slip it on to the lolli.  It was a huge team effort and I'm not sure we've really put a dent into it.  Given that tomorrow is a school day and Tuesday is the big day it is likely tomorrow evening will be an intense night getting them done.

THE POWER OF ONE

I am often amazed at the power one.  I have seen it many times, one person leaves and their absence is felt greatly by many.  I am missing Zaphod deeply these days.  It's hard to believe that a little furry friend can leave such a big gaping hole in your home.  He has been gone 6 months and him not being here is felt in my heart and reverberates through the walls of our home.  He was a quiet dog so it's not his noises that I miss, it's his gentle, kind heart and love that I am missing so much.  As I walk through the door, the door opens with ease.  Zaph constantly would fall sound asleep on the mat right against the door so it was difficult to actually open it.  As I crawl out of bed each morning, I still expect to see him curled up at the foot of our bed.  I have been overwhelmed with the amount of food left on the dining room carpet after each meal, little did I know that Zaph was incredibly helpful cleaning up after the boys at meal times.  I have since gone and bought a Dyson handheld vacuum to keep up with the mess several times each day.  I miss practically tripping over him a dozen times daily, he was more like a shadow following us around everywhere we went.  Just last week Kieran and I were reminiscing and chatting about how different our home feels without him.  We both agreed, that if and when we ever get another dog, we think Shadow will be an excellent name!
