newchoir

Many people know that I love to sing and perform.  I see it in my own kids via nightly shows that take place in our living room and it takes me back to my childhood.  I performed song and gymnastic routines daily for my parents.  I am now the parent sitting, watching, encouraging my boys.  I am really excited to have joined a pop/rock choir called newchoir.  I got off the plane from Jamaica and within 48 hours went to an audition.  I was thrilled to be accepted into the choir. Rehearsals take place every Monday night with 150 other people.  Singing again feels A-mazing!  I arrive home late Monday nights excited and energized.  The theme this season is Road Tripping with songs like Running Back To Saskatoon (The Guess Who), Little Red Corvette (Prince) and Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Green Day) to name just a few.  Our big concert is on Sat. May 12th at Ryerson Theatre - let me know if you want tickets, it promises to be a fun night!

Here is a short clip from a previous season so you can see what it's like.

FITZ FAMILY FESTIVITIES

Whew!  We are incredibly lucky people.  We spent Christmas Eve, Christmas morning, afternoon and night surrounded with the people we love most in the world.  Christmas afternoon and evening at Kel and Darin's new house in Hamilton was beyond spectacular.  The cousins went wild with excitement upon seeing one another, factor in Christmas, presents, delicious food and more family visiting from Ottawa and the energy factor was through the roof.  When your husband is one of 6 kids, 3 of whom are married, 7 children produced, throw in grandparents, aunts, uncles and anyone in between and you have a pretty big party with immediate family.  Thanks to Kel and Darin for going above and beyond hosting all of us.  We loved every second of it!  xoxo

31 days ago was Christmas morning.  We woke up to Kieran saying, "Mum, Dad, it's 5 dot dot one nine, do you think Santa has come yet?"  At that point, we were up and the excitement was difficult to contain.  We descended the stairs at 6:38am.  Santa had left 7 gifts for the "Fitz Brothers".  Those gifts contained 5678 pieces of Playmobil (the entire Spy Set) for us to construct.  12 people were here for brunch.  Pete arrived with gifts for the boys, 2 massive lego sets, one containing 676 pieces, the other 784 pieces.  Needless to say, there has been lots of building happening in our house the past month.  We departed here at 1pm and drove to Hamilton for the Fitz Family Festivities.  We were home by 10:30pm, multiple alarms went off at 3am to ensure we woke up in time to get to the airport and be on a 6am departing flight to Jamaica.  A whirlwind for sure, but incredible amounts of fun!  This year, being a leap year has 366 days.  Only 335 until Christmas 2012!

Jally slept over and kindly tried to kill time with the boys at 5 something in the morn!  Ugh!

Yippee!  Santa came!

Dave joins the "cult".  It's only fitting for me to give him lululemon stuff!

Pete arrives with a lego police station and lego fire station for the boys.  Welcome to lego land folks.

THE NEXT DAY...

Was Christmas Eve.  We had a low key day with Erin and the boys before heading off to Poppy and Nana's for dinner with Great Grampa and Jally.  Amazingly, I don't have many photos from that night.  I did not bring my camera, thinking my Dad and Jal both have better cameras than I do so I thought I'd get some good pics from them.  Dad if you have any shots of all of us, please send them to me.  Here are the few that I have.

Double Yahoo!  Quinn got one too.  Thanks Dad and Jane!

AUNTIE ERIN

Ok,  my pre Christmas and Christmas pics are LONG overdue.  My apologies.
Auntie Erin is a remarkably kind, thoughtful and caring aunt who is too good to us.  Erin called a week or 2 prior to Dave's birthday (Dec. 23rd) and offered to drive down from Ottawa a day early and stop over at our place for a sleep over and look after the boys so we could go out to celebrate him.  We took her up on it.  She arrived at our house in the afternoon armed with cookies, crafts, treats, birthday gifts and Christmas goodies.  She was overloaded with stuff and had the entire evening planned before she stepped foot in our door.  The boys were ecstatic to see her and so were we.  They spent a solid hour of the evening decorating the star shaped cookies Erin had baked and so carefully traveled with.  In the end, after lots of icing and sprinkles were consumed, the cookie Christmas trees were put together and admired for the rest of the holiday.  Erin and the boys had Friday Night Family Movie night (as we do weekly) while Dave and I went out for an incredible birthday celebration at Luma in the TIFF Lightbox.  It was a great evening across the board, thank you Erin for being so thoughtful.  We loved having you, come again soon.  xoxo

Erin in the festive spirit and the boys happy to see her!

I don't know what you're talking about... I'm not eating sprinkles...

JAMAICA

It's difficult to put into words how spectacular this trip was, so rather than try, I think I'll just let the photos speak for themselves.  We are most grateful to Tom and Mum for suggesting, organizing and treating us to this trip of a lifetime.  We are certain to never forget it!  With much love and gratitude xo k.d.k.q.

With seats in the front row and a 6am departure, the captains were kind enough to invite the boys into the cockpit prior to take off.  Definitely a fantastic way to start the trip!

The thing about an early morning flight is you get to see the sunrise above the clouds.  Beautiful!
