4 YEARS!

It is amazing to think that 4 years ago we welcomed Quinn into our family.  He very quickly became Q-Ball which has stuck.  He also carried the name Q2 (squared) standing for Quiet Quinn.  He was ridiculously quiet, calm and laid back for the first 13 months of his life.  Once he realized he could ramp it up by chatting, playing with volume and silliness he has never looked back.  The Q2 nickname quickly fell by the wayside.  Quinn, you are loud and proud, smart, hilarious and fun loving and we are blessed to have you in our lives.  Our family would not be complete without your birth 4 years ago today.  We love you more than you could ever know!

FAREWELL OL' FRIEND

Today we bid adieu to our beloved dog Zaphod.  He was plucked off the streets of Port of Spain, Trinidad back in 1996, he made his way to Canada on July 1, 1997.  Dave traveled across Canada with his faithful friend in '98 and there is no doubt that back in 1999 I fell for Zaph before falling in love with Dave.  We feel blessed to have shared all of the incredible years we have with him.  We will miss you more than you know Zaphod Beeblebrox Fitzpatrick, but we will visit you at your final resting place often.  You will certainly never be forgotten and are forever loved.  See you at the cottage! xoxox

SUNDAY SWIM

A "totally wicked" way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  Many thanks to the Robic's for sharing their backyard with us. We loved it!

BROTHERS!

I stumbled upon this short video yesterday.  With Quinn's 4th birthday just days away I thought it was adorable and worth sharing.  Brothers meeting for the very first time!

SUPERHERO PARTY!

Phew!  I can check the "superhero party" off my life to-do list!  Ha!  We celebrated Quinn's 4th birthday (a few days early) SUPERHERO STYLES in our local park.  Given that today was nearly the hottest day ever recorded, we were most grateful for the wading pool.  We had grand intentions of dressing them all up as superheros (superhero kits were provided at the party), but honestly, it was too hot!  So, we dressed them up in their swimsuits, sprayed them toes to tip in sunscreen, armed them with water sprayers and set them lose in the wading pool.  Veggies, fruit snacks, water and a pizza dinner before a short Candy Caper Photo Hunt around the park which guided them to their loot bags and superhero kits to take home.  They all managed a few bites of cupcakes before giving Quinn the one friend gift or Zhu Zhu pets.  He was over the moon thrilled!  Thanks to everyone for spending the afternoon with us and for your contribution to Quinn's gift.  The official birthday is on Tuesday... T minus 5 days!

So, he tossed it on Henry instead.  Good decision!

A high-pressure centre and warm air moved south and east, driving temperatures at Pearson International Airport, just outside the nation’s largest city, to 37.5 degrees at 5 p.m. That was good enough to best the previous record high for July 21 – 35.6 in 1955 – but not enough to top the overall record, 38.3 on Aug. 25, 1948.  (clip taken from the Globe and Mail - July 21, 2011)

BANK BOY!

Today Kieran and I opened his very first bank account!  We went down to Scotiabank in Bloor West Village and opened a "Getting There Account".  I can still remember my Dad taking me to Scotia at Yonge and Eglinton to open my very first Getting There Account when I was about the same age as Kieran is now.  He was over the moon excited and he was definitely the highlight of the day for the workers in there.  We had rolled all of his coins up, totaling $51.50 and he had nearly $40.00 in bills, not a bad start for 5 years old.  So, with our tupperware of money, off we went!  His bank card is the highlight for sure!  I snapped a few pics on my phone for good measure.

FEARLESS!

Here is a short video of K & Q riding down the huge hill of Riverdale Park.  Kieran had some sense in him at this particular moment and at least rode down on a bit of an angle.  Quinn opted to go straight down! (* Note that Quinn is on a run bike.  No pedals, no breaks! *)  I didn't catch it on video, but very close to the bottom he had a speed wobble and flipped over the handle bars.  He popped up, spit some grass out of his mouth and began to laugh out loud!  Yikes!

AMAZING GRACE!

I had already had the great fortune of meeting and snuggling Ms. Grace (twice) but none of the Fitz boys had been so lucky.  We managed to spend the better part of the day on the east side of the city enjoying coffee at Rooster on Broadview and relaxing under a beautiful tree in Riverdale park with Jo, Matt and Grace.  At just 7 weeks old she is already a stunner! We loved lazing around spending some time getting to know her.  The boys, well, they enjoyed bombing down the park hill on their bikes!  Daredevil Quinn has some scratches to prove the insanity!  On Sunday, they asked me for another baby!  Uh Oh!

Dave in heaven!

COCONUTS!

Turns out most of us weren't so nuts about coconuts!  Thanks for the effort Uncle Darin.

The start of the excitement!

First taste of the coconut water - notice the licking of the lips...

Not so delicious!

Seriously gross!

I'm not sure we will be doing that again!

CAMP COUSINS

We spent yet another glorious weekend on a lake surrounded by people we love.  This past weekend we headed for Cousin Island (ok, Eilean Gowan Island but Cousin Island has a much nicer ring to it!).  The boys were beyond thrilled to be reunited with their groovy buds.  Cottaging with a 9, 8, 6, 5, soon to be 4 and 3 year old is never dull!  They travel in a pack and happily keep an eye on one another.  It is a truly wonderful place to be!
