APRIL SHOWERS BRINGS THE HOLIDAY TRAIN?

For the 5th consecutive year, we went to welcome the CP Holiday Train. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain and felt more like April than December.  Ben, Ellie and Jase joined us for a quick bite at our place before heading over.  Amazingly, the kids had a blast, despite getting soaking wet.  Due to the down pour I opted to leave my good camera at home and just took a few quick shots on my phone to mark the occasion.  Here's hoping the rain turns to snow...?  (I'm not sure if I really want that or not)...  It's hard to believe that tomorrow is December!

Quinn, Ben, Ellie and Kieran as the train arrived.

The firefighters were there which was equally exciting.  A lady took a photo of the 4 of them in there and said it might be published in the January edition of SNAP Bloor West.  We will see...

FIRE!

We heard a lot of sirens roaring near our house at about 6:30am this morning.  We couldn't help but wonder where those sirens were heading.  We received a text from Dave shortly after 7am saying it looked like The Sweet Potato was on fire.  The Sweet Potato is a local organic food shop not far from our house.  We frequent there often and are grateful to have such a fantastic little shop in our hood.  Upon hearing the news the boys got dressed as fast as firefighters, grabbed some grub, put on their shoes, jackets, hats etc and were ready to head out for a wander and see what we can see.  By the time we arrived down the street at 8am they had the fire put out.  It turns out that there are 3 apartments above the Sweet Potato.  All of them are completely gone!  We watched them push out what was left of the windows and begin the clean up.  K & Q were in awe watching it all and in the end we needed to rush down the block to make it for the 9am school bell!  A few of the firefighters came over to chat with us and gave the boys Junior Firefighter stickers.  Definitely a great conversation piece in the playground on a Thursday morning.  Thankfully, it sounds like everyone made it out safely.

THE PURCHASE

Kieran received some money for his birthday.  Upon depositing it into his bank account he realized the birthday money plus the money he has been saving since opening his account this past summer meant he had enough money to buy himself the big Playmobil Police Station he has been wanting for a few months time.  He promptly asked me if I could take him to a toy store, to which I responded lets go wander around and if we see one, we can go in.  I knew there was a Toys R Us upstairs in the Yonge & Eglinton Centre but I didn't tell him that.  As we were walking up Yonge Street, Kieran glanced up, his jaw dropped and he said, "that says Toys R Us!"  In we went...  He quickly found the Playmobil section and saw the big boxed station (it was so big he could barely carry it).  He grabbed it off the shelf and walked toward the check out.    The best part was it was on sale!  Regularly $105, Kieran bought it for $83.  He couldn't believe his luck!  He was thrilled to stick his bank card in that debit machine and press all the necessary buttons.  Today, we have a full Emergency Services play section on our 3rd floor.  The boys get up early, run upstairs and play before school and it is the first place they go upon arriving home. We are getting ready for some serious indoor play time as the cold air moves in and hibernation begins...

CHUCK E CHEESE

We survived the chaos that comes with Chuck E Cheese!  Kieran attended a birthday party there back in June and has been talking about wanting his birthday party there ever since.  We were crossing our fingers he would forget, but he didn't.  So, 6 friends were invited to join us at The Chuck, as Kieran has started calling it.  Quite the place, entirely fun for kids, and overwhelming for adults.  All in all, a great time was had.
Daycare buds reunited.  Elizabeth, Ben and Kieran

One of many birthday kids during the 2:30-4:30pm time slot.  Quite the business.

The birthday crown from Chuck E.

Make a wish...

Kieran got one gift from all his friends.  We ask everyone to donate $10 toward one gift we purchase, wrap and bring to the party.  He got 3 Police Playmobil things to add to his Police set.  He was thrilled!

The ticket blaster booth.  Grab as many tickets as you can while they fly around.  We told him to collect them in his sweatshirt which started out very well for him, but he eventually dropped his sweatshirt and tried to grab them with his hands.  Hilarious to watch.

Tickets, tickets everywhere...

THE SWISS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!

I didn't bring my camera to Swiss Chalet, but I did manage to catch the birthday song, last minute on my phone.  As I lay in bed with Kieran last night, he mentioned what a great surprise that song was.  Adorable!

** Dave and I commented to one another on the fact that Kieran clearly thought about his wish before blowing out his candle.  We never asked what he wished for, but just the other day he told me that his wish was mostly for me.  He told me he wished that Zaphod would come back to life because he knows I miss him so much and he doesn't like seeing me so sad about it. Very sweet and highly unlikely to come true, but I appreciate it none-the-less. **

11.11.11

A very special day, for our very special guy.  Kieran was born on the Friday of our November mid-term break 6 years ago, and this year his birthday fell on that same day which meant Dave and I had the day off school.  We spent the morning volunteering in his grade 1/2 classroom, attending the Annette P.S. Remembrance Day Service and bringing both our boys home for a birthday lunch.  Kieran asked to go to Swiss Chalet for his birthday celebration dinner, to which we happily obliged.  Grams and Claw very kindly met us there and the staff birthday song was definitely a highlight for Mr. K.  Happy 6th birthday Kieran!  I'm not sure it would be possible to love you more than we already do!
Last sleep as a 5 year old.

6am (he was up at 5:30am) presie exchange.  Kieran opening his gift from Quinn and Quinn opening a gift from Kieran, his way of saying thanks for being such an amazing little bro.

7am, opening his presie from Dave and I.

It's a remote control helicopter.  So cool!  This is what Kieran had been asking for.

Post Swiss Chalet, kids are sound asleep and Dave wants to play...

So he did...

Birthday flag on one side and...

Poppy flag on the other.  The only double flag day in our house, both equally important.

Very exciting.

So cool.

Look how high it goes!

6 YEARS OLD!

It's hard to believe that 6 years ago today Kieran Bosley Fitzpatrick wiggled, punched and kicked his way into this wacky world of life.  He was born November 11, 2005 at 11:47pm, 7lbs 1oz, 21 inches long.  We had no idea how much love and joy this little person would bring with him.  We are grateful for our boys every day.

I started keeping this blog when I was pregnant with Quinn.  Amazingly, Quinn's entire life thus far has been documented in bits and pieces on this site.  Kieran was about 18 months old at the time I opened this account so there are very few infant and baby photos of him on here.  I plugged in my external hard-drive this morning, reminisced and pulled a few of my faves off thinking it would be fun to share them, as this incredible boy celebrates his 6th birthday.  Amazing how fast it has gone!  We love you!

One day old, meeting his puppy dog Zaphod for the very first time.

Meeting his Great Grandparents (Bosley) at 6 days old.  Kieran was my grandparents first great grandchild.

Hanging out on Ant Jally's bed at 4 weeks old.  Kind of Muppet like.

Kieran's first Christmas.  6 weeks old.

Full of personality even at only a few months of age.

Buddies hanging at the cottage.

The Fitz Boys!  Dave, you look about 12!

Poppy and Nana time on our old front porch at 24 St. Johns Place.

With Grams on Sandy lake.  No we did not dress you alike on purpose.  We all arrived like that!

Ant Jally special Head Wear!

Christmas morning 2006,  announcing you were going to be a BIG BROTHER!  When I unzipped your sweater and people read your t-shirt they just about fell to the floor!  Fun times ahead...

Nursing pad box and a soother, why not!

19 months old, in our new house with a new baby bro.  Life is good, but crazy!

Now We Are Six - A.A. Milne

When I was one I had just begun
When I was two I was nearly new

When I was three I was hardly me
When I was four I was not much more

When I was five I was just alive
But now I am six, I'm as clever as clever;

So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.

RODEO

Claw and Grams bought all of us tickets to go and see the Royal Winter Fair Rodeo which took place last weekend.  It was a very fun way to spend an afternoon.  The fair itself was packed with lots to see and do and the actual rodeo event was amazing to watch.  It definitely amazed me to think that people actually choose to do this!  The first guy on the bareback got thrown off and looked quite injured, the 3rd guy actually was bucked off and stepped on by his horse.  He was flat out for a few minutes and did not get off that field on his own accord.  The highlight for the boys was definitely the bulls.  Kieran was adorable and trying to be so patient waiting for the bulls to come out, which were the final portion of the program.  He was amazed and I think a little disappointed to see men on bucking bulls because he thought it was "bull fight style" with men holding the red material and having the bulls chase after them.  Quite adorable.  Thanks to Claw and Grams for the suggestion and execution.

They were so excited to see the baby chicks

These little things were only 3 days old

What the heck???  Who knew?  What colour eggs do these chickens lay?

Butter anyone?

Here we go...

Grampa Claw pulled out all the stops!

Yes, this man is choosing to do this!

The cowboys!
